From the days when we were known as Straits Trading Company more than a century ago to present time when we have forged ahead to every aspect of tin operation cycle, the legacy of uncompromising quality has always been, and will always be, the hallmark of MSC's operations.

Our tin smelter in Butterworth is the first in the world to obtain ISO 9002 accreditation. Every step in our production process is carefully planned and executed by highly skilled and well-trained personnel. Consistent quality checks throughout the production cycle prevent loss of accuracy in any individual part of the process.

But we do not stop there. We believe there is an additional step that we have to adhere to if we were to remain true to our commitment to quality, that is to continuously improve the processes by which we provide our products and services and be bold to innovate newer and better product line.

One of the key results of injecting innovation to quality assurance is the birth of MSC's premium grade high purity tin (99.99%) which has come to be used in highly specialized industries. This product went on to win the coveted Product Excellence award presented by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Industry of Malaysia in 1997. Over the years, we have also married our passion to preserve the environment with our product range, culminating in the production of our low lead tin.
